Born and raised in Franklin County, Brandon Muravchick has devoted his life to serving others—as a coach, mentor, and law enforcement officer. A proud graduate of Franklin County High School (Class of 1999), Brandon has built a career rooted in community, leadership, and public safety.
Coaching and Community Leadership
- 25 Years of Umpiring – Started at age 14 at Paul Weddle Stadium.
- Basketball Coaching – 15 seasons as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Elkhorn Middle School; later Head Girls Varsity Coach at Western Hills High School.
- Softball Builder – Founded the Capital City Crush Travel Softball program, growing it to three teams and more than 40 athletes.
- Still Coaching Today – Head Coach of Smash House Fastpitch and the Elkhorn Middle School Lady Elks Softball team.
Brandon’s lifelong commitment to youth sports has shaped hundreds of young athletes, teaching teamwork, leadership, and confidence.
Career in Public Safety
- Early Career – Program Coordinator for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Drive Smart Program, serving on the Governor’s Executive Highway Safety Committee to reduce crashes and save lives.
- Lexington Police Department – Joined in 2007, serving 8 years on 3rd shift patrol before becoming a Neighborhood Resource Officer in the Winburn community.
- Organized the Winburn Public Safety Day.
- Taught the DARE program in schools.
- Built trust between police and community.
- Traffic Sergeant (Current Role) –
- Oversees safety operations for major city events, including 17 seasons at UK football games.
- Certified Collision Reconstructionist.
- Law Enforcement Instructor.
- DUI program coordinator at the Lexington Police Academy.
- Statewide trainer and certifier of Drug Recognition Experts.
Brandon has dedicated his professional life to highway safety, impaired-driving prevention, and strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community.
Family and Roots
- Family of Service – Both of Brandon’s parents retired from the Kentucky State Police.
- Faith and Community – Active members of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church.
- Personal Life – Married to Julie, Assistant Principal at Elkhorn Middle School, for 20 years. Together they are raising two daughters who share the family’s passion for sports and community.
